Diane Kirk's original watercolors (her friends call her Di) are influenced by her life long love of nature and the natural beauty that surrounds her. She was born in England and moved to upstate New York where she started painting. She now divides her time between Tortola, in the British Virgin Islands, Sarasota, Florida and Deer Isle, Maine. Inspired by the ever changing moods of the sea, sun and sky, she captures them in a relaxed style allowing the paint to flow on wet paper and do much of the work. In contrast, her bird and flower cameos explode with color. An active sailor, Di enjoys painting the evocative images of sailboats as she travels with her husband Mike, an avid racer, to regattas in the Caribbean islands. Here she captures the dynamic moments of the sailing scene.
